Former Super Falcons midfielder Maureen Mmadu has said that Super Falcons and Dalian Quanjian FC of China forward, Asisat Oshoala will have to prove to Nigerians that she is very fit, anytime she is called upon to come and represent Nigeria.
The former Avaldness FC of Norway player maintained that the female Africa Footballer of the Year winner cannot come to Nigeria fat and expect to get a starting shirt ahead of others, stressing that Asisat has to consider if the tempo of the game in China, is high like that of the game in Europe.
She added that if the tempo is lower in China, the former Arsenal Ladies star must do more individual training to keep herself in top shape, because names don’t play football anymore.
“It depends on you as a player; if you know that you have a task ahead of you and you know that you are not measuring up with your peers in other leagues, then you have to consider embarking on individual trainings or even employ a private coach to train you.
“Asisat cannot come back to Nigeria fat and expect the coach to play her. The coach is going to assess her and if she is not fit to play for Nigeria, she will be dropped. Her stature will tell us a lot about how competitive the Chinese League is.”
“Her name doesn’t matter at all because names doesn’t play football anymore, only players that are very fit and agile will play for the national team”, she concluded.
