Rivers United, Nigeria’s representative in the CAF Champions League, have crashed out of this year’s edition after losing 4-0 to Sudanese side Al-Merreikh in the second leg fixture with 3-4 aggregate score at.
 
The Nigerian side had won the first leg at the Yakubu Gowon Stadium 3-0 and were in high spirit ahead of the return leg fixture, only to fall to a first half hat-trick scored by Bakri Al-Madina in the 9th, 24th and 45th minutes. 
 
The Sudanese side added another goal to complete the rout in the second half and eventually sent the Nigerian side out of the competition.
 
Rivers United will now compete in the CAF Confederations Cup.
