MFM Head Coach, Fidelis Ilechukwu has said that there must be maximum security at match venues before we can expect a hundred percent performance from them.
The ‘Working One’, as he popularly called, maintained that for effective performance, security from other states should be at match venues and security from the home state.
The Prayer Warriors Coach told Aoifootball.com exclusively that he doesn’t blame referees who make wrong calls sometimes because their lives are often in danger from home teams’ fans.
“I am not the type of coach that complains about referees because I know they too are human beings who can commit errors. The only thing that is sure about officiating is that without having enough securities in a game, there is no how the referee can do his work properly.”
“Having heard of what happened to referees in other places, I cannot be hundred percent if I am a referee because my life is important. If we want hundred percent officiating, there must be adequate security at football venues nationwide. If my team MFM, for example, is playing in Lagos and there is no adequate security, it is risky on the side of the referee.
“I will suggest that security be provided from other states; we have the best referees but they use to change in games because of the reaction of the home side.
“I don’t blame them; the very day things will change is the day the LMC themselves get enough security to guide the referees at match venues and make sure no harm comes to them,” concluded Ilechukwu.
