Speaking with a very strong sense of conviction, former Nigeria international, Nduka Ugbade, has posited that the Super Eagles are likely to win the FIFA World Cup in 2022.
Ugbade, who spoke to AOIfootball.com exclusively, postulated that with the number of Europe-grown players Nigeria is churning out, the team will be mature enough to win the FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
His scientific postulation was however, with a disclaimer, as he pointed out factors that may yet deter Nigeria from winning the world championship.
Nduka Ugbade was captain of the Nigeria U17 team that conquered the world in 1985.

“Football today is now at an advanced level where talents alone are not enough for a team to win. The quality of play must improve as well as the quality of intelligence which must be at the highest level.

“If you are talking about the senior national team, you’re talking about a finished product. It’s a place where you can gather a bunch of eleven players and expect everything to happen.
“This time around, we’ve some young quality players in the Super Eagles that will grow. Then, we’ll have to plan towards the Qatar 2022 World Cup where we’ll expect them to perform at their peak. I’ll like us to qualify for Russia so it would afford the players a platform to garner the experience needed and by Qatar 2022, we’ll be achieving so much,” Ugbade enthused.

Ugbade also warned that maximum focus must be maintained for Nigeria to nick the sole ticket ahead of Cameroon in Group B of the qualifying race to Russia 2018.
