Super Eagles’ Technical Adviser, Gernot Rohr, has said he looks forward to a win against South Africa this weekend in Uyo and that Nigeria can’t afford to miss out of the next edition of the Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon, AOIFootball.com can report.
Rohr told journalists this after arriving at the Akwa Ibom International Airport on Monday evening alongside few Super Eagles’ players from Abuja.
According to the Franco-German, Uyo has brought the Eagles luck and he hopes the team records another victory this weekend in front of over 30,000 fans that usually throng the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium.
“It’s good to be back here. We are happy to be back in Uyo and we’ve won our last game here so we look forward to another win,” Rohr said.
On qualifying for the Nations Cup, Rohr told reporters that it is a very fantastic adventure to be at the biennial tournament and he hopes the team can do what it takes to be at the event in 2019.
“We want to qualify for the Nations Cup because it is a fantastic adventure. We were only spectators at the last edition in Gabon. It starts with the big game against South Africa on Saturday and I hope we will be able to do it,” concluded Rohr.
Meanwhile, there are 21 players in the Super Eagles camp, reports say three remaining players will join the team on Tuesday. The expected are Elderson Echiejile, Kenneth Omeruo and Ahmed Musa.
