Super Eagles and Porto B defender, Chidozie Awaziem has put pen to paper for French side, Nantes on a season-long loan deal, has gathered.

Awaziem has been on the radar of French scouts after the international friendly against Togo in Paris.

He is a very composed defender and rated a 6/10 after the match against Togo, more than any other Super Eagles defender in that match.

Awaziem made 10 appearances for Porto’s main team last season in the Portuguese league.

Chidozie Awaziem has become Claudio Ranieri’s first signing as manager of the French club.

It looks like Ranieri has a natural affinity for Nigerian players, having signed Ahmed Musa and Wilfried Ndidi to former English Champions, Leicester City last term.

The new Nantes signing made his full international debut for Nigeria against Togo in Paris on June 1st and also started his first competitive game for Nigeria last weekend against South Africa in Uyo.
