Super Eagles and Changchun Yatai striker, Odion Ighalo on Wednesday afternoon scored twice as his Chinese side beat Henan Jinaya 2-0 in a Chinese Super League match.
In a game which featured two great rival players C. Bassogog of Cameroon and Nigeria’s Odion Ighalo, it served as a perfect moment for both players to begin their rivalry before next month’s double header, however it was Nigeria’s Ighalo who drew the first blood has he scored twice for Yatai.
The former Watford striker, who has been in fine form of late, opened scoring in the 12th minute via an assist from winger Long Tan before putting the final icing on the cake when he hit the back of the net in the 64th minute after a fine pass from Li Guang.
The win moves Changchun Yatai to 10th position with 26 points, one above Obafemi Martin’s Shanghai Shenhua who lost 3-0 to Guizhou Zhicheng.
It was Ighalo’s 9th and 10th goal of the season, as he hopes his recent goal scoring exploit can convince the Super Eagles handlers to recall him to the team for the decisive double header against the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon.
