Heartland FC of Owerri have ended their one-year absence from the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL), after defeating First Bank of Lagos 0-1 at the Agege Stadium to win promotion to the top flight league.

 

The Naze Millionaires returned to the topflight league after spending one season in the NNL. The team secured 60 points to pick the promotion ticket in the Southern Conference ahead of Bayelsa United, trailing beside the Owerri club with 55 points.

 

 

Head coach of Heartland, Emmanuel Deutsch, was full of praises for his side, following their impressive performance throughout the season.

 

“The Heartland FC management have been wonderful, they motivate the boys and paid their salaries as at when due; they are just perfect. I give kudos to them most especially, our chairman, Goodfaith Chibuzor,” Deutsch stated.
