Super Eagles’ and Changchun Yatai striker, Odion Jude Ighalo returned to goal-scoring form to help his Chinese Super League club to a 3-2 victory away at Guizhou Hengfeng Zhicheng.
Ighalo opened the floodgate of goals five minutes into the second half, heading in a flick header from Jie Sun to put Yatai a goal up.
The former Watford striker then put the icing on the cake for the away side as he scored one minute into addition time to make it 3-1 after rounding off the goalkeeper to slot pass the defender on the line.
However, there was a nervy end to the match as former Everton of England striker, Nikica Jelavic scored what looked like a mere late consolation as Changchun Yatai held on for all three points.
Ighalo had a match rating of 8.5 and a pass accuracy of 76.5%, won 6 of his duels contested, was fouled once and completed all three dribbles on the night.
The Nigerian striker has now scored 14 league goals for Changchun Yatai this season, while also registering 3 assists to his name.
The win leaves Ighalo’s side on the 10th position in the Chinese Super League with 35 points from 27 games.
