Super Eagles’ vice-captain Eddie Ogenyi Onazi scored a Lionel Messi-like goal as Trabzonspor thrashed Corum Belediyespor 6-0 in the Turkiye Kupasi, Round 4, AOIFootball.com reports.
The midfielder returned to action few days ago after the injury he picked up on international duties with Nigeria, and is already repaying the faith put in him by manager Riza Calimbay.
The goal was not shy of class as Onazi pounced on a loosed ball in the middle of the midfield and raced past all comers to calmly slot the ball past the onrushing goalkeeper in the 74th minute of the encounter.
The former Lazio midfielder as now scored two goals this season for Trabzonspor, one in the league and the other in the Cup.
The win will come as a morale booster for Trabzonspor who were winless in their last five games, and they will now hope it spurs them on when they host league leaders Galatasary at the Medical Park Arena on Sunday.
