After a final that looked like a football carnival in the Ancient City of Kano where the 2017 Ahlan Cup came to a climax on Sunday, the Chairman Kano State Football Association, Alhaji Rabiu Sharif Inuwa ‘Ahlan’, who hosted the 10-day event has promised football lovers in Nigeria more.
A happy Ahlan thanked everyone who made the inaugural edition of the preseason tournament a success, choosing to mention just a few from the multiple.
Ahlan thanked the media for their blistering coverage of the event, the League Management Company (LMC) and Club Owners’ Association for allowing their teams participate in the tourney, the Nigeria Football Federation and its board members, who have been very supportive, especially the NFF President Mr. Amaju Pinnick.
Ahlan also thanked the Kano State FA board members for the classy organisation and unity. Reserving special praises for Kano State SWAN chapter and Kano State Sports Council headed by Alhaji Ibrahim Galadima.
The seasoned administrator however revealed that the first edition of the Ahlan Cup is a tip of the iceberg, compared to what will come subsequently.
“It’s been an amazing year, I must say, but, next year is going to be bigger. We already have companies speaking to us about sponsoring this event next year. I can also tell you that there’s is the likelihood that this competition may get larger in terms of the number of teams that will participate.
“Meanwhile, I appreciate everybody here today. The fans have been amazing. On behalf of the Kano State FA, I say thank you,” Ahlan stated.
Kano Pillars FC won the first edition of tournament, beating Akwa United in the final.
