Coach of Akwa United, Abdul Maikaba as sent out strong pleas to the management of the team over what he needs if the team are to do well at the CAF Confederations Cup next year, AOIFootball.com reports.
Maikaba made this known after his team lost the final of the Ahlan Cup 2017 3-1 to Kano Pillars. Maikaba maintained that he is happy with the preseason preparation so far, but admits his team must add more players if they are to get to the desired level, ‘especially strikers’.
“I’m very happy with the performance of my team. I must commend the organisers of the Ahlan Cup, it’s a quality preseason tournament which gave us six good games. I’m very happy about.
“What my team needs now are strikers. We must start scoring goals if we are to be at the level we want, that’s is why I want Godwin Obaje. I want him to come and play for us,” Maikaba said.
Ahlan 2017 preseason tournament had 11 Nigerian Professional Football League teams.
