Not limiting his focus to the FIFA World Cup to be held in Russia next year, Super Eagles’ Head Coach, Gernot Rohr, has said he wants to win the 2019 African
Cup of Nations (AFCON) title to be hosted by Cameroon, reports.

The German tactician, who said he was highly elated over the trust reposed on him by the Nigeria Football Federation, said he has set his sights beyond the World Cup which he believes will go well for his team.

”I thank my leaders for this trust. Beyond the World Cup, the main goal is the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2019. We want to come back from the World Cup and win it,” Rohr stated.

The Super Eagles have won the tournament three times, but missed
out in the 2015 and 2017 editions.

The Super Eagles are in Group E with leaders Libya and South Africa who have three points each from one match played. Nigeria lost their first game to the Bafana Bafana in Uyo.

Nigeria first won the AFCON on home soil in 1980 before conquering the continent in 1994 and 2013.
