Former international, Tijani Babangida has showered praises on the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) for their robust World Cup scheduled ahead of the Super Eagles’ sixth appearance a the mundial to be hosted by Russia in June.
Babangida, who is a member of the NFF Technical Study Group, told AOIFootball.com that the team has no excuse not to perform well in Russia.
“I must sincerely commend the leadership of the NFF for lining up quality friendlies for the team because over the years, we have not been playing quality friendly matches and that has really affected the team at the mundial itself.
“We know our group will not be an easy one but we already have an idea of how Argentina plays and engaging with the likes of England, Poland and Serbia will give us firsthand knowledge of what to expect from Croatia and Iceland,” Babangida said.
The wing wizard further pleaded with all Nigerians to support the team.
“Yes, Nigerians can be impatient at times, but we must all learn to exercise patience and not put too much pressure on the players and the coaches,” he concluded.
The Super Eagles of Nigeria are billed to play five pre-warm up matches ahead of the World Cup matches against Poland (23 Marchin Poland), Serbia (27 March in the UK), DR Congo (28 May in Abuja), England (2 June in London) and Czech Republic (6 June in Austria).
