The Super Eagles of Nigeria booked a place in the final four of the 2018 African Nations Championship (CHAN) with a 2-1 win over Angola at the Stade Ibn Batouta in Tangier on Sunday, AOIFootball.com reports.
Both teams squandered several chances throughout a pulsating two hours of football, with Okpotu especially guilty as he failed to find the back of the net after breaking straight through on goal within the opening 20 seconds of the clash.
Though boisterous winds almost hampered the game for both teams, Angola took the lead courtesy of forward Vladimir Etson Antonio Felix after half-time.
But then Anthony Okpotu drew the scores level with moments left in the 91st minute of normal time.
Gabriel Okechukwu scored what proved to be the winning goal early in the second period of extra time.
The victory sets up a semifinal clash against Sudan for Nigeria and a win in Marrakech on Wednesday would seal their place in the tournament’s final.
