Red-hot striker of the Nigeria Professional Football League and Kano Pillars’ goal poacher, Junior Lokosa, as said he’s not losing sleep over the possibility of being called up by Coach Gernot Rohr as part of the 35-man provisional list for the World Cup, AOIFootball.com reports.
The former First Bank of Lagos star, who spoke to AOIFootball.com admitted a call-up to the Super Eagles would be a massive leap in his career, but wants to rather focus more on improving himself and leading Kano Pillars to glory.
“The season has been going on well for me. Personally, I am happy scoring vital goals to help my team in the league, but I currently want to do more and lift Pillars to the summit of the table.
“I will say without the effort of my teammates, I won’t be scoring goals. They have been of great help to me and I want to repay them with a trophy or two at the end of the season. I don’t have a personal target for goals right now, but I would love to write my own history in the NPFL,” Lokosa said.
On the possibility of being called up by Gernot Rohr for the Eagles’ upcoming friendly against Congo, Lokosa said, for now, anything can happen.
“Playing for my country will obviously be the biggest achievement of my career, but it all depends on what the coach wants. If he feels I deserve the chance then I will grab it; if not, I will just wait for my own time,” Lokosa concluded.
