Nigeria Professional Football League champions, Plateau United have bowed out of this year’s CAF Confederations Cup after they lost 4-0 at USM Alger of Algeria in the second leg of their play-off round fixture at the Stade 5 Juillet on Tuesday night, AOIFootball.com reports.

Plateau United had won the first leg 2-1 in Lagos but Tuesday’s 4-0 defeat meant they were edged out on a 5-2 aggregate.

USM Alger scored two goals in each half of Tuesday’s second leg game to book their place in the group phase of the CAF Confederations Cup.

Enyimba, MFM and Akwa United, the three other Nigerian clubs left in the competition, will be in action on Wednesday evening.
