Two-time African champions, Enyimba of Aba have been drawn in Group C of the CAF Confederations Cup alongside Mali’s Djolida which eliminated Nigeria’s MFM FC, AOIFootball.com reports.
The People’s Elephant, who will be appearing in the group stages of Africa’s second-tier club competition for the first time, will have to negotiate their way past Djoliba, Williamsville and CARA Brazzaville if they are to advance to the next phase of the competition.
Enyimba is the only Nigerian club left in the competition after they edged out South Africa’s Bidvest.
Group A: ASEC Mimosas (Côte d’Ivoire), Raja Casablanca (Morocco), AS Vita Club (DR Congo), Aduana Stars (Ghana).
Group B: RS Berkane (Morocco), Al-Masry (Egypt), UD Songo (Mozambique), Al-Hilal Al-Ubayyid (Sudan).
Group C: Enyimba (Nigeria), Williamsville AC (Côte d’Ivoire), CARA Brazzaville (Congo Republic), Djoliba AC (Mali).
Group D: Rayon Sports FC (Rwanda), USM Alger (Algeria), Young Africans (Tanzania), Gor Mahia FC (Kenya).
The group matches will run from May 4 to August 29, with the top two teams in each group progressing to the quarterfinals.
