Super Eagles’ prospective invitee, Fernando Adi continued to make a strong case for himself to be included in Nigeria’s 35-man roster for the World Cup, as he scored for the second consecutive game for Portland Timbers when they brushed aside New York City in the MLS, AOIFootball.com reports.

It was the home team who drew first blood via the boots of Sebastian Blanco after 26 minutes to hand Timbers a 1-0 lead.

Adi then netted his second of the season and his side’s second of the game in the 38th minute after New York City goalie, Sean Johnson spilled the ball to the Nigerian to tap home from 5 yards.

Larrys Mabiala completed the rout six minutes after the hour mark to earn Timbers their second successive win in the league.

Adi has now been directly involved in four goals in last five starts (2 goals, 2 assists) for Timbers. He was on for 88 minutes, with a game rating of 7.0, completing 55% of his passes, winning 6 duels and making 2 clearances.
