With less than 28 days to the FIFA World Cup, the Super Eagles’ of Nigeria are still the 47th best-ranked nation for the month of May, AOIFootball.com reports.

The Eagles who were unengaged in the past month remained the list ranked country in Group D of the World Cup with favourites Argentina retaining their stronghold at number five as they were no shake-up in the top 48.

Nigeria’s other two opponents Croatia and Iceland also remained 18th and 22nd respectively.

Nigeria’s next friendly opponent DR Congo, also retained their number 3 position in Africa and 38th in the world with Nigeria also remaining 6th on the continent while Russia-bound Tunisia leads the way as the only African country in the top 20.

World champions Germany continue to lead the way and are followed by Brazil, Belgium, Portugal and Argentina in the top five.

The next ranking will be published on June 7, just seven days before the opening match in Russia.
