Super Eagles’ defender, William Troost-Ekong has hailed his former club Bursaspor for the support and time given to him during his one-year stay in Turkey as he prepares for life in the Italian Serie A with Udinese, AOIFootball.com reports.
The 25-year-old joined the club last season from Belgian outfit Genk for a fee of around €1 million, establishing himself as one of the best defenders in the division.
He took to social media afterwards to appreciate the fans, promising them his continued support and loyalty.
“I want to say a big thank you to everyone in Bursa and Bursaspor, especially my teammates and staff for everything. I will always have great memories of my time in Turkey as a player but also as a man.
“However, the time has come for a new step in my career. I want to wish Bursaspor a great season and I will now follow the team as a fan. Lastly, I want to say a special thank you to Texas and all the fans who supported me and the team. I will remain one of you now. Texasli Ekong,” Ekong said.
The former Tottenham youth prodigy featured 33 times for the modest Turkish side, scoring twice, with his recent strike coming in Bursaspor’s 2-1 loss to Fernabahce last weekend.
