Super Eagles’ new invitee, Kelechi Nwakali was in impressive form as he helped FC Porto B to their first win of the season against Academico Viseu 2-1 at home to ease pressure on Coach Rui Barros, AOIFootball.com reports.
Nwakali was a constant threat to the visitor’s backline as they struggled to keep pace with his tricky attacking miidfielder all through the encounter.
Without a win in their opening three Segunda Liga matches, Porto found themselves behind after 42 minutes when Kwame Nsor put the visitors ahead before an own goal from Jonas Mended (50) and Rui Costa (73pen) turned the tie around as Porto B earned their first three points of the campaign.
Nwakali, who was withdrawn after 77 minutes for Rario Baro, posited afterwards that he was happy with their first win of the campaign.
“Thank God for the winning in today’s game. Thank you all for your good wishes. Let the winning continue,” Nwakali posted.
The former U-17 World Cup-winning captain will now turn his attention to Nigeria’s must-win AFCON 2019 qualifier against Seychelles next Saturday.
