Former Super Eagles’ defender, Godfrey Oboabona returned to competitive football action for the first time in nearly a year after making his debut for Croatian side HNK Gorica in their 1-0 win away at Osijek, AOIFootball.com reports.
Oboabona last played for Saudi Arabian club Al-Ahli Saudi and started the game for his side playing as a left back. He, however, picked up a yellow card but a second-half strike from Lukaz Zwolinski was enough to earn the away side all three points.
The game will come as a morale booster for the AFCON winner who has vowed to make a strong return as he still hopes to feature for the Super Eagles.
The win lifts Gorica to 5th on the table with 13 points from 8 games.
