Two-time African champions, Enyimba International of Aba have restored the hope of Nigerian football on the continent following their impressive display so far in the 2018 CAF Confederations Cup, AOIFootball.com reports.
It will be recalled that the Confederation of African Football (CAF) had announced earlier that Nigeria will no longer be producing four representatives on the continent following the disappointing outings of the likes of Akwa United, Plateau United and MFM who all crashed out in the preliminary rounds of this year’s CAF competitions.
Enyimba’s performance this season has however boosted the chances of Nigeria with LMC chairman Shehu Dikko revealing that in 2020, Nigeria will now be having two representatives in the Confederations Cup, an upgrade from the one the country will turn out in 2019.
“With their performance, we are going to have our two slots back in the competition in 2020. I say kudos to Enyimba and pray they go all the way this year and win the cup,” Dikko told newsreportersng.com
The Aba giants would on Wednesday host RAJA in the first leg of the CAF Confederations Cup semifinal, with the winner over both legs going on to face either Al-Masry or As Vita in the final.
