*Congratulates team on victory
Super Eagles’ Coach Gernot Rohr has hailed his team’s impressive display after showing character to beat Libya 3-2 despite losing their two-goal advantage earlier in the match, AOIFootball.com reports.
The Franco-German, who is just one win away from returning Nigeria to the Nations Cup after missing out on the last two editions, further urged his team to remain humble ahead of next month’s crucial tie against the Bafana Bafana of South Africa.
“I congratulate my team for this victory. It was a huge test of our character. We lost a 2-goal lead but fought hard instead of dropping our heads. We will stay humble because we have not qualified for AFCON yet. We will keep fighting,” Rohr stated after the match.
A brace from Odion Ighalo in either side of the halved and an Ahmed Musa strike ensured Nigeria made it three consecutive wins on the bounce, recovering from their opening day loss to South Africa to remain on top of the group with 9 points from a possible 12.
