Super Eagles Coach, Gernot Rohr is working round the clock to ensure he has a near perfect defence line ahead of Nigeria’s return to the African Cup of Nations next year, AOIFootball.com reports.
The Franco-German is said to be worried about the way the defence performed during the qualifiers, especially against Libya and South Africa in which the team conceded avoidable goals.
The Eagles handler has tried a back four and three man formation but it seems the team have not fully understood his tactics. Injuries to some key defenders have also not helped matters.
Further investigation by AOIFootball.com revealed that Rohr could now consider the options of fresh legs after he insisted that he wants more competition for his defence and could invite new players for Nigeria’s dead rubber qualifiers against Seychelles next year.
Having qualified Nigeria for its second competition, Rohr is very determined to not just compete but to ensure the country leaves a lasting impression on the AFCON and he wants to do so with a strong defence, especially with the numerous attackers at his disposal.
