Nigeria’s representatives at this season’s CAF Inter Club competition have advanced to the next phase of the following their impressive wins against their respective opponents on Wednesday, AOIFootball.com reports.
In the CAF champions league preliminary round Lobi Stars defeated UMS de Loum of Cameroon 2-0 in Enugu to advance on a 2-1 on aggregate after losing 1-0 in the first leg seven days ago.
A first-half strike from Sikiru Alimi in the 11th minute and a second-half penalty from Yaya Kone ensured the Markurdi- based side advanced to the first round of the competition.
The Nigerian side will next face Gor Mahia of Kenya in the next round after they defeated Nyasa Big Bullets 4-2 on penalties with aggregate score line ending 1-1 after both legs were played.
The first leg of the clash will take place in Kenya between the 14-16 of this month and the return leg seven days later in Nigeria. The winner of the tie on both legs will advance to the group stages of the competition.
Similarly, Aiteo Cup winners Enugu Rangers were at their commanding best in far away Ethiopia, edging out home team Defense Force 3-1 to advance to the next round of the CAF Confederations Cup.
Strikes from Bright Silas, Godwin Aguda (penalty) and Kelvin Itoya was all the Enugu boys needed to cancel an early penalty goal from Minyelu Wendimu to advance 5-1 on aggregate.
The Enugu team will next face Algerian side USM Bel Abbes who edged out Liberia’s Liscr FC 4-1 on aggregate. The first leg of the match is scheduled for the 14-16 of this month and the return leg seven days later.
