Despite being stripped of the hosting right for this year’s African Cup of Nations, Cameroon is still very much in line to host the 2021 edition, AOIFootball.com reports.
In a bid to ensure there is clarity regarding the hosting of the competition for the next three editions, CAF has now resolved that with the 2019 host nation set to be known on Wednesday, Cameroon will host in 2021, whilst Ivory Coast and Guinea will host the next two editions.
Ivory Coast was originally scheduled to host in 2021 but will now host in 2023 whilst Guinea who was originally scheduled to host in 2023 have now been awarded the 2025 edition.
The change definitely affords all countries enough time to adequately prepare for the tournament.
The 2019 host will be decided in Dakar on Wednesday with either Egypt or South Africa set to host.
