Super Eagles’ captain, Mikel John Obi could remain in the Chinese Super League ahead of the new season despite just quitting Tianjin Teda last week, AOIFootball.com reports.
Mikel, who became a free agent after mutually terminating his contract with Tianjin Teda, told AOIFootball.com that he won’t rule out the chance of remaining in the Chinese League despite offers from several clubs outside China.
However, AOIFootball.com can confirm that the player could be on his way to Beijing Sinobo Guoan who are thought to be monitoring his situation and could make a move in the coming days.
Beijing Guoan is free to sign at least one foreign player after the departure of midfielder Jonathan Soriano to Al-Hilal of Saudi. They have now identified Mikel as a perfect replacement to fill the midfield position ahead of the new season.
Mikel, 31, joined Tianjin Teda in the winter of 2017 after an illustrious career with Chelsea, spending two seasons before deciding to call it quits.
