Super Eagles’ midfielder, Oghenekaro Etebo impressed for Stoke City as they blew open the championship title race by defeating leaders Leeds United at the Bet365 Stadium, AOIFootball.com reports.
The midfielder started only his first championship game since the arrival of new manager Nathan Jones and showed a glimpse of why he should be starting on a regular basis for the Potters.
After a goalless first 45 minutes, the hosts took the lead four minutes after the restart when Sam Clucas before the visitors were reduced to ten men when Pontus Jansson received his marching orders for a second bookable offense.
Stoke did, however, make the advantage count when Joe Allen made it 2-0 two minutes from time before Ezgjan Alioski grabbed a consolatory goal for the visitors five minutes into added time.
Etebo played the entire duration of the match and had a game rating of 7.2, completed 53% of his passes, made one key pass and won nine of his fifteen duels. He also made one clearance, one interception and also won all four of his tackles.
The win moves Stoke to 14th on the table with 38 points from 28 games, 8 points adrift of the promotion playoff spot.
