Super Eagles’ and Hapoel Be’er Sheva of Israel midfielder, John Ogu has described racist comments by Indian actor and Arsenal ambassador Esha Gupta at Alex Iwobi as disrespectful, AOIFootball.com reports.
Obviously angered by Iwobi’s performance in the FA Cup loss to Manchester United, Gupta went overboard by laughing at a comment that described the Nigerian as a gorilla, a situation which has not gone down well with Ogu who supports Arsenal with passion.
Though Gupta did tweet afterwards that she was cut up by the chat and did not mean to react in such manner, Ogu insists she owes Iwobi and indeed the black race a well-spread apology.
“He might not be Neymar or Mbappe, but they shouldn’t treat him like that. He’s our own and we must always support him. I stand with Iwobi” Ogu told AOIFootball.com.
Ogu was however marvelled at how the world kept mute on the issue and urged Nigerians to support Iwobi and condemned any form of racism or violence against Ni
