Super Eagles’ shot-stopper, Daniel Akpeyi is reportedly on his way to PSL side Kaizer Chiefs after both parties struck a deadline day deal to see him join the Amakhosi, AOIFootball.com reports.
According to reports in the South African press, the 32-year-old is expected to be unveiled later Thursday when he puts pen to paper with the club.
Chiefs’ Coach Ernst Middendorp grew increasingly frustrated with reserve goalkeeper Virgil Vries following yet another blunder by the Namibian international against Cape Town City on Wednesday evening.
It’s understood that the club has since scampered to bring in the 32-year-old Super Eagles star from Chippa United, with the transfer window set to close at midnight.
The Glamour Boys were earlier linked to Mamelodi Sundowns goalkeeper Thela Ngobeni, but it would seem the club have failed in their pursuit of the former Free State Stars man.
Akpeyi joined Chippa United from Warri Wolves in 2015 and has since been a super regular with the club, keeping seven clean sheets already this season.
