Nigerian international, Gabriel Okechukwu has expressed his delight after making a return to the Wydad team in their 1-0 win over FUS Rabat at the weekend, AOIFootball.com reports.
The 2018 CHAN Eagles’ star has had a torrid few months in Morocco following the cancelation of his proposed loan move to Rapids Oued Zem last month, with the forward returning to the club to fight for his place in Coach Faouzi Benzarti’s squad for the remainder of the season.
After series of impressive displays in training, the 23-year-old was given his chance as he came off the bench for just his third league appearance, replacing Amin Tinghazoui in the 50th minute as Wydad claimed a hard-fought 1-0 win over FUS Rabat to remain top of the Moroccan Botola League.
Okechukwu, who was geared by the fans, told AOIFootball.com afterward that he was happy to be back on the pitch and hopes to get more playing time with the team.
“It’s always a good feeling to be back on the pitch of play and I’m happy I was able to contribute to the win today and I also hope to get more playing time and prove that I have what it takes to play with the rest of the squad,” Okechukwu said.
He also went on to thank the Wydad fans who have supported him during his trying time and have shown him love all through the season.
