Former Akwa United striker, Okechukwu Gabriel came off the bench for the second consecutive game to inspire Wydad Athletic Club to a 2-1 win over host C.A.Y Berrechid in a rescheduled matchday 17 clash, AOIFootball.com reports.
Having also started from the bench in Wydad’s last league outing last weekend, the former CHAN Eagles star was again named among the substitutes as they recorded their fourth consecutive league win.
After a goalless first half, the 23-year-old was introduced at half time for Liberian forward William Jebor and the change proved a masterstroke as the visitors took the lead before the hour mark courtesy of a Cheick Camara strike.
The hosts, however, pulled level 12 minutes from time when Mohamed Aymen Sadil equalized yo made it 1-1 but the lead lasted for just two minutes as Mohammed Nahuri scored the winner as Wydad clinched all three points.
The win further stretches Wydad’s lead at the summit if the Botola League with 39 points from 18 games, 11 points adrift of second-placed Raja who have 28 points from 16 games.
