Former Golden Eaglets skipper, Kelechi Nwakali has expressed sadness after seeing his side suffer their first defeat in over three months to Arouco, AOIFootball.com reports.
The 20-year-old midfielder returned to the starting XI after sitting out last week’s draw at home to UD Oliveirense but despite his impressive display they failed to find the net all through the match.
Nwakali, who was replaced just before the hour mark for Fabio Daniel, did give a good account of himself, completing 85% of his passes, winning 7 of his 8 challenges, 100% of his aerial duels and also completing 100% of his dribbles in the clash.
He however noted that they have now put aside the loss as they prepare for the visit of second-placed FAC Famalica this Saturday.
“Unfortunately we could not puck all three points at the weekend. Going 11 games without a defeat was not an easy one and we knew it was definitely going to end one day and now it has.
“We just want to focus on the tie ahead and hopefully get back to winning ways in our next game this Saturday,” Nwakali concluded.
The Nigerian has featured 15 times for Porto B since joining on loan from Arsenal and could be invited to lead the U-23 team as they prepare to battle Libya in the AFCON U-23 qualifiers next month.
