Nigerian forward, Gabriel Okechukwu has offered Moroccan side, Wydad Athletic Club a huge boost ahead of their CAF Champions League matchday 5 tie away at Ivorian club Asec Mimosa, AOIFootball.com reports.
The former Akwa United star was a major doubt for the clash having suffered a dislocated shoulder 10 days ago in Wydad’s 3-0 league win over Rapids Oued Zem.
But the 23-year-old has returned to training right on time and could now feature for the Coach Faouzi Benzarti’s side as they aim to progress to the quarterfinals with a game to spare.
“Getting better and ready to return to action. I will travel with the team for our champions league game on Saturday in Ivory COACT, hopefully, we will seal qualification with a game to spare,” Okechukwu told AOIFootball.com from his base in Morocco.
Wydad is joint second in Group B with 7 points and could do Lobi Stars a whole lot of favour should they fail to lose at Mimosa whilst the Nigerian club must also match or better Wydad’s result when they travel to South Africa to face Mamelodi Sundowns.
