Super Eagles forward, Odion Jude Ighalo reached yet another landmark of 40 goals in the Chinese Super League after netting a brace to inspire Shanghai Shenhua to a 5-1 thrashing of Beijing Renhe, AOIFootball.com reports.
Having scored in his last two league outings, the Nigerian started his fourth league game as two goals in the opening half hour from the duo of Giovanni Moreno and Fredy Guarin put the hosts in the ascendency.
Ighalo then got into the act after 35 minutes to make it 3-0 before completing his brace, six minutes after the hour mark to put Shanghai 4-0 up.
Lu Zhang then made it 5-0 ten minutes from time before Mahete Diop grabbed a late consolation for the visitors who remain bottom of the table after four round of matches.
With his brace, Ighalo has now scored 40 league goals since joining the Chinese Super league in 2017 from Watford.
The 29-year-old scored 15 goals in his debut season before netting 21 last season and four more this term to rack up 40 goals in 60 appearances.
