Nigerian forward, Austin Amutu was once again the saviour for Egyptian club Al-Masry as he came off the bench to save their blushes in a 1-1 draw at home to Ismaily which also had another Nigerian Onoriode Odah, AOIFootball.com reports.
Seeking to extend their unbeaten league run to 13 games, the hosts surprisingly dropped the in-form striker on the bench as they failed to break the visitors’ backline going into the break.
The Nigerian was then introduced at half time for Mahmoud Wadi and immediately made an instant impact when he gave Al-Masry the lead 40 seconds later much to the jubilation of the home fans.
But the visitors, however, equalized on the hour mark via the boot of Mahmoud Metwaly as both sides settled for a share of the points.
The goal was Amutu’s fifth of the campaign since joining in the winter transfer window as Al-Masry continued their slim quest for a continental ticket at the end of the season.
