Flying Eagles’ captain, Ikouwen Udoh has promised Nigerians and lovers of the team an improved performance at the U-20 World Cup in Poland after a not too impressive outing at the U-20 AFCON in Tanzania where they finished fourth, AOIFootball.com reports.
Speaking just before the team’s departure to Germany where they will be having their final training camp before heading to Poland, the Enyimba left back who has since been capped at senior level, believes the training camp will help the team shape up before the competition.
“I’m confident we can perform better at the world stage. We will prepare very well in Germany so that we will give a good account of ourselves when the World Cup begins in Poland,” Udoh said.
The left-back also expressed excitement with the call up of few overseas players to boost the squad and believes their presence will help give stiffer competition to ensure the best legs are selected to represent the country.
The Paul Aigbogun-led boys are in Group D of the biannual tournament alongside Qatar, USA and Ukraine. They open their campaign against Qatar at the Tychy City Stadium on May 24.
