Nigerian forward, Victor Osimhen signed off his season-long loan deal in a sweet-bitter way after scoring his 20th goal of the season as 10-man Sporting Charleroi threw away a two-goal lead to lose 3-2 away at Royal Antwerp to miss next season’s Europa League spot, AOIFootball.com reports.

Having scored twice mid-week to help Charleroi reach the final, the 20-year-old put his side ahead inside the opening 10 seconds as he benefitted from a miscommunication in the defense line of Antwerp to fire the ball past the goalkeeper for his 19th league goal of the campaign.

The visitors were soon in dreamland twelve minutes later when Dorian Dessoleil doubled their lead.

Down but not out, veteran Congolese forward Dieumeric Mbokani pulled one back for the host on 16 minutes before Charleroi were reduced to 10 men after defender Gjoko Zajkov was sent off after a foul inside the penalty box with Lior Refaelov converting the resulting spot kick for 2-2.

The host will, however, make their numerical advantage count seven minutes after the hour mark when Mbokani netted his brace to complete the comeback to help Antwerp seal a place in next season Europa League qualification rounds.

Despite the defeat, the Nigerian leaves the club on a high having netted an amazing 20 goals in all competitions as Charleroi will have to pay around €15 million should they seek to lure Germany club Wolfsburg into parting ways with their sought after forward.

Osimhen will now turn his attention to Nigeria’s AFCON 2019 quest after been named in the preliminary squad.
