Super Eagles and Rotherham United of England midfielder, Semi Ajayi has revealed his frustration after failing to make Nigeria’s final 23-man shortlist to the Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt, whilst positing that he will continue to support the team in Egypt, AOIFootball.com reports.
Despite an impressive 2018/2019 campaign with Championship side Rotherham United which saw the versatile player net 8 goals and one assist across all competitions, the 25-year-old was overlooked by Rohr with Ajayi stating that he feels gutted by the decision.
“Wishing my brothers the best of luck at the upcoming AFCON. Its been a privilege to have been part of this squad and I’m gutted that I couldn’t make it. I wish everyone linked with the Super Eagles the very best of luck this summer.
“I will be supporting the team until the end. Go and make Nigeria proud my brothers,” Ajayi posted on his social media page.
Having featured for Nigeria at U-20 level, the former Arsenal youth player made his senior debut in August of 2018, coming on as a replacement for Chidozie Awaziem against Seychelles before helping the team qualify for the AFCON.
