Newly signed Trabzonspor of Turkey midfielder, Mikel John Obi has revealed his excitement after joining the Turkish giants on a two-year deal, AOIFootball.com reports.

Mikel, who is away on international duties with Nigeria at the Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt, told AOIFootball.com exclusively from the Eagles base in Alexandria that his decision to move to Turkey was a well thought one despite several offers to remain in England.

“Definitely I’m excited about the move; its a new challenge for me and I’m already looking forward to it. Trabzon is a nice city and the club has a good project going forward and I believe we can achieve something great next season,” Mikel enthused.

The 32-year-old will feel at home at the club with National team colleagues Ogenyi Onazi and Anthony Nwakaeme already cult heroes at the club.

The former Chelsea of England star comes with a lot of experience for Trabzonspor and a bag of quality some of which he displayed at previous clubs Tianjin Teda and recently English Championship side, Middlesbrough.

AOIFootball.com further gathered that the Nigerian International will earn about 2 million euros net per year plus bonuses and add-ons.

His arrival adds to the growing list of Nigerian players in Turkey with Flying Eagles defender Valentine Ozorwanfor also another new addition to the flowery of players from the country.
