*Says S/Africa were not brave enough

Bafana Bafana of South Africa Coach, Stuart Baxter has hailed Super Eagles Coach, Gernot Rohr after their 2-1 loss and ouster from the Africa Cup of Nations, AOIFootball.com reports.

Baxter, who saw his unbeaten record against the Nigerian coach come to an end, further stated that his boys were not brave enough and should have defended well against the West African giants.

“It’s hard to lose in the dying minutes of a game but I thought we weren’t brave enough in the first half and we didn’t defend well enough.

“We tried to come out in the second half but we left spaces for Nigeria to exploit. Congratulations to Gernot Rohr and his team,” Baxter said during the post-match conference.

Goals from Samuel Chukwueze and William Troost-Ekong and a Bongani Zungu strike earned Nigeria a 2-1 a place in the semifinals of the competition.

Nigeria will next face either of Algeria or Coted’Ivoire after the final quarterfinal round on Thursday.
