My target is to win trophies with Barcelona, says Oshoala
Assistant Captain of the Super Falcons, Asisat Oshoala has set a target for her new challenge at FC Barcelona Femenina, whilst ensuring that she enjoys her flourishing football career, AOIFootball.com reports.
In an exclusive chat with AOIFootball.com, Oshoala said that joining the club in full capacity has boosted her determination and she is set to help the club with titles.
“This is my first season as a full Barcelona player and I will give my best to the team. I will try to make sure we win trophies this season and also do better than we did last season. Also, we will try and get better as a team and as individuals,” Oshoala said.
The forward, who had a successful loan spell at the LaLiga Femenina side from Dalian Quanjian FC in China, is having a promising preseason, coming off from a brace against her formal side, Arsenal Ladies in a 5-2 victory, which was preceded by four goals in two preseason matches.
She opined further that her teammates are of world-class quality.
“It’s been quite interesting out here. Pretty good. Everything has been done in a very professional way. This is a top club obviously and the players are world-class as well, you know. You have the best legs in the team.
“So, for me, it has been a professional journey so far. One of the best professional clubs I have played in my career and we are having a good time, a great experience and also it has been a pleasure playing in this type of environment once again,” Oshoala added.
Featuring in the UEFA Women’s Champions League final and scoring her sides only goal last season in a 4-1 blowout, Oshoala has her sights set on greater achievements but remains humble as she understands it’s a gradual thing.
“Last season, we made to the UEFA Women’s Champions League final. This year obviously, we want to do better. We want to be in better positions. We want to win trophies as a team, but it has to be one step at a time. We get the draws and we keep playing and see where we get to.
“Basically, I am not under pressure. I am a player that loves what I do. I just want to enjoy. I just want to have fun I just want to give my best for the fans and club. I want to defend the batch every time I get the opportunity to do so. I love football and every time I am on the pitch I enjoy myself. The only thing that is important is the club,” Oshoala concluded.
Passionate about her career, the former Arsenal Ladies and Liverpool Ladies striker who signed a new contract with FC Barcelona Femeni just before the World Cup, insists she is not under pressure to deliver.
