Super Eagles winger, Alex Iwobi opened his goals account for new club Everton as they overcame League One side Lincoln City 4-2 to progress to the 3rd round of the Carabao Cup, AOIFootball.com reports.

 

The Nigerian was one of five changes made by Blues manager Marco Silva as he made his first start for the club alongside fellow new signing Moise Keane.

 

The visitors, however, got the worst possible start to the match as Lincoln went ahead inside the opening 20 seconds much to the joy of the fans present at the Suncil Bank.

 

Defender Lucas Digne then drew Everton level with a sumptuous free-kick on the 36th minute before Gyfil Sigurdsson struck from 12 yards in the 59th minute to complete the comeback.

 

The League One club, however, did not give up on the match with Bruno Andrade equalizing on the 70th minute before Iwobi headed Everton in front nine minutes from time with the Nigerian immediately being replaced to sounding applause from the traveling fans.

 

Brazilian forward Richarlison then ensured the win was safe and secured when he scored the 4th goal two minutes from time to seal progression for the Premier League side.

 

Iwobi did see 82 minutes of action, earning a game rating of 7.2, completing 80% of his passes and also making 2 key passes.
