National Association of Nigerian Professional Footballers President, Tijani Babangida has called on footballers both home and abroad to get familiar with the body to ensure a proper career after the beautiful game, AOIFootball.com reports.
The former Super Eagles winger, who spoke exclusively to AOIFootball.com urged younger players to spend judiciously to avoid struggling at their retirement stages.
“As the President of the players’ union, a lot of things have to be on ground to ensure players no longer face hardship after their careers.
“Already we have created a pension scheme which will help active footballers both male and female save from what they earn now to enable them to have a secured future when they retire.
“We have a running website already and we urge players both home and abroad to key into this latest development to avoid pitiful retirements,” Tijani said.
He further assured Nigerians that NANPF is already looking at the case of former Falconets goalkeeper Bidemi Aluko who has been diagnosed with cancer, calling also on well-meaning Nigerians to help save her life.
