Super Eagles midfielder, Mikel Agu was at his brilliant best over the weekend starring on his first league start for Vitoria Guimaraes as they thrashed visitors CD Aves 5-1 to record their first win of the season, AOIFootball.cim reports.


Injured for much of the season opener, the combative midfielder helped set up his side’s first goal and was a constant figure in the heart of the midfield, a performance which earned him a spot in Team of the Week as well as Goal team of the week for matchday 5.


The 26-year-old had a game rating of 8.5, completing 86% of his passes, making 2 key passes and also completing all of his dribbles. He also won 13 of his duels contested and also made 3 interceptions and clearances each.


The Nigerian was joined in the midfield by teammate Lucas Evangelista, with Santa Clara’s Patrick and Fabio Martins of Famalicao completing the midfield quartet.


With the win over CD Aves, Vitoria Guimaraes now sit 10th on the log with six points from their opening five games and will now switch their attention to Thursday’s Europa League clash away at Standard Liege.
