Nigerian international, Anthony Nwakaeme ended his five-game goal drought in the league to star for Trabzonspor as they thrashed visiting Besiktas 4-1 to move up to fifth on the log, AOIFootball.con reports.

Despite failing to find the back of the net, the former Super Eagles invitee was handed his 6th start with compatriot Mikel John Obi also starting for the Trabzon-based club.

After a cagey opening half an hour, the hosts took the lead against the run of play when Dorukhan Tokoz put through his own goal on 31 minute before Jose Sosa doubled Trabzonspor’s lead three minutes to half time to make it 2-0.

Nwakaeme then set up Alexandra Sorløth on 64 minutes for 3-0 with the visitors reducing the deficit on 71 minute via the boots of Guven Yalcin.

The Nigerian then made it 4-1 on 88 minutes when he started and completed a blistering counter-attack which saw him go all the way from his own half before firing past the goalkeeper.

He deservedly earned the man of the match award with a game rating of 8.2 with Mikel Obi also playing for the entire match duration.
