Coach of Heartland Football Club of Owerri, Fidelis Ilechukwu was full of appreciation for his team despite losing 1-0 to fellow Nigeria Professional Football League NPFL side, Rangers Int’l FC, at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, AOIFootball.com reports.
Speaking exclusively to AOIFootball.com, the ‘Working One’, as Ilechukwu is fondly called, stated that Heartland FC is set for the 2019/2020 league season adding that both the new and the old players are blending well, thereby making it easy for the team to make progress.
“We’ve made steady progress in our build-up to the commencement of the new league season, and I’m happy with it. Both the old and new players have been blending well, and that has made it easy for us to play as a team,” he said.
A Christian Madu’s shot from 35 yards away was what finally gave Enugu Rangers the goal that separated both sides in the 93rd minute, and Ilechukwu was especially full of praise for his midfield trio of Onoja Joseph, Chukwudi Nwodu and former MFM midfield combatant, Chatto Giscad, stating that they were ‘spot on’ with instructions given to them.
“I’m very pleased with the way our midfielders approached the game; they carried out instructions given to them to the letter, Ilechukwu added.
“They actually made the transition process from the defence to attack quite easy for the team,” Ilechukwu concluded.
