Dream Team VII stand-in captain, Kelechi Nwakali has played down reports that the team is planning on embarking boycott Saturday’s game against Ivory Coast, AOIFootball.com reports.

The SD Huesca of Spain midfielder, who led the team in their first training session at the Al Salam Stadium in Cairo on Thursday, stated that the players remain 100% focused on getting a win against Ivory Coast on Saturday night.

“I don’t know where the news of strike are coming from because we have been training hard ahead of our opening game on Saturday.

“We know the importance of a positive start and we are just focused on getting our first three points against them because that will put us in a very good position to reach the semifinals. It won’t be an easy one but we are very much prepared for the challenge ahead,” Nwakali said.

The Imama Amapakabo-led boys will begin their campaign against Ivory Coast on Saturday night before facing Zambia and South Africa respectively in Group B.
